Have you been wanting to divorce your former spouse but unable to afford a lawyer to prepare the Application for Divorce?
CLT Family Law is offering preparation of an Application for Divorce for $550* (conditions apply). This price includes:
- Taking instructions from you by phone or video conference;
- Preparing a draft of the Application of Divorce;
- If a joint Application, liaising with your former spouse to complete their information and providing them with signing instructions;
- Reviewing Application with you and making any amendments required;
- If you are Townsville based attending with you to sign the Application or if outside of Townvsille providing you with signing instructions.
- Filing Application for Divorce with Court *filing fee not included
- If sole Application, arranging service of your spouse *process server fees not included
- If sole Application, filing Affidavit of Service
- Advising you of the Court date;
- Advising you when outcome posted on portal
- Providing you with a copy of the Certificate of Divorce when finalised
- If a Court attendance is required, as it is a sole application and you have children under 18 years old, we can appear at Court for an additional $220 or you can appear and we can provide you with a briefing on what to expect at no extra cost.
Excluded
- Court Filing Fee – This is the fee payable to the Court. Current fees are $1,060 or $350 reduced fee (where Applicant or Applicants have a Health Care Card or other government concession card)
- Process Server Fees – Depending upon number of attempts to serve and distance to travel, usually about $150-200.
- Cost of obtaining required documents (eg. copy of marriage certificate)
Additional Services Available
Sometimes your divorce application is a little more complicated. Perhaps for part of the minimum 12-month separation period required for divorce you and former partner lived under the same roof, perhaps your marriage certificate is not in English, perhaps you don’t know where your former spouse is or they are avoiding service or perhaps you have children under 18 years old and it is not a joint application.
